Dostoyevsky once said, "Beauty will save the world." I've long wondered what he meant by that statement. I glimpsed his meaning recently when President Trump and First Lady Melania were in Appalachia doing a press conference with downtrodden mountain people who have been living in tents since Hurricane Helene last September. During the presser, you could hear a woman in the background say repeatedly, "Melania, you're so beautiful, Melania you're so beautiful." Those people needed Melania as much as they needed FEMA. There is hope in beauty. There is reverence in beauty. We need beauty.
