THE GOOD
Irving Kristol, the so-called “Godfather of Neoconservatism,” was only willing to give two cheers for capitalism. I say THREE cheers for capitalism!!!
Speaking of capitalism, I think it’s time for a proper definition, don’t you? Here’s mine:
To quote my old friend, the Bronze Age Pervert, “Wat means?” “Daily COVID Deaths in Sweden Hit Zero, as Other Nations Brace for More Lockdowns.”
If you would like to know why I wanted to become and American and live in the United States from the time I was boy, here’s one amongst thousands of reasons. The U.S. is the country of benevolence. It makes the world a little bit every day: “‘Goal-Oriented’ High School Students Design Wheelchair Attachment for Disabled Dad to Take Newborn on Walks.”
Another reason I love this country. Got a lump in my throat with this one. Respect to the officer and to the deceased soldier:
THE BAD
Tar and Feather Alert. Let’s be clear: Biden’s “infrastructure” bill is no such thing. It’s a socialist redistribution plan. Your money, the money that you EARNED (yes, Elizabeth Warren, EARNED) is being taken from you by force and is being given to someone you don’t know, who did nothing to earn it. Hell, even the Stamp Act was more legitimate than this monstrosity. We need a twentieth-first century Sam Adams to get things going. “American taxpayers, not foreign investors, are on the hook for Dems’ trillions in new spending.”
The Law of Unintended Consequences applied to medicine. “Healthcare Laws Should Come with Black Box Warnings.”
When satire become reality. This might be funny were it not so sad and pathetic, not to mention the fact that it will almost certainly lead to real tragedy: “Good luck with that! Chicago mental health professionals will be dispatched on 911 calls instead of cops following defund the police protests - as gang members now outnumber officers ten to one.”
The Left worming itself into pretzels. “Cuba Demoted to ‘Not Real Socialism’.”
LET’S BLOODY HOPE SO! “Is Cuba’s Communist Party Finally Losing Its Hold on the Country?”
Going out on a limb. I think it’s time for conservatives, libertarians, and classical-liberals to go back to basics: “It’s About Time We Stopped ‘Trying Communism’.”
Communism kills. Always has and always will: “Kim Jong Un Admits Things Are Getting 'Tense' as North Korea Faces Utter Devastation.”
Open borders for anyone except those fleeing communist dictatorships: “Biden Military Steps In to Stop Americans from Rescuing Cubans Seeking Freedom.”
America’s decline and fall—China edition:
Crime—Up! Taxes—Up! Inflation—Up! Regulations—Up! Campus Insanity—Up! It’s “That ‘70’s Show” all over again. “Ben Domenech: A Nation In Dire Straits Is Re-Living The 1970s.”
Millennials of the World Unite! You have nothing to lose but your Boomer inherited wealth: “Will ‘the Great Wealth Transfer’ Trigger a Millennial Civil War?”
The country is in the very best of hands—NOT! “Pentagon Reportedly Tracking Web Searches Including Phrase ‘The Truth About Black Lives Matter’.”
Yeah, because socialism is the way forward. I keep tell you people that Critical Race Theory is NOT primarily about race and race relations. It’s a means to an end—and the end is different than advertised: “Nikole Hannah-Jones said Cuba is among 'most equal' countries because of socialism.”
Gee, I wonder why? “Ratings of Black-White Relations at New Low.” If Black Lives Matter is not about racial healing and ending racism, then what’s it about? Inquiring minds want to know:
In the end, is there really a difference between banning and burning books? “Are You Having a Free Speech Emergency?”
THE UGLY
When sexual perversion meets left-wing politics. This is a difficult read, but it’s also required reading. The Ugly in “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” doesn’t quite do it here. How ‘bout we swap “evil” for “ugly” on this one: “The German Experiment That Placed Foster Children with Pedophiles.”
. . . and THE BEAUTIFUL
“The Shield of Achilles” (1952) by W. H. Auden. This is an extraordinarily powerful reading by the pseudonymous, Tom O’Bedlam.
A ragged urchin, aimless and alone,
Loitered about that vacancy; a bird
Flew up to safety from his well-aimed stone:
That girls are raped, that two boys knife a third,
Were axioms to him, who'd never heard
Of any world where promises were kept,
Or one could weep because another wept.

Have great week!
Overall, I liked you definition of capitalism Professor Thompson, however I don't like the idea of describing contracts as "inviolable." To me that sounds as if nobody, not even the Government can violate them, because they have some intrinsic value or protection. But isn't it the role of the Government to define the parameters for what may be considered a legitimate contract and what may not? And isn't it the proper function of the state to ensure that legitimate contracts are protected, but illegitimate contracts are expunged? Which surely means that the Government has the power and the right to violate a contract?
